Manufacturer: Louis Poulsen

Designer: Poul Henningsen

Poul Henningsen presented the pendant together with the PH 5 at the Danish Museum of Decorative Art in 1958. No one paid much attention to the PH Snowball at the time and it was not until 1983 that it was reintroduced and manufactured again, with its brilliant non-glaring light distribution.

When the PH Snowball is switched on, the lower shades cradle the light, whereas the top shades disperse it both upwards and inwards, providing an even glow all around the pendant. The matt inner side of the shades is shiny on the surface, which reflects the light well.

Henningsen continued to work with Louis Poulsen after their first lamp collaboration in 1925 for the Paris exhibition. During his lifetime, Poul Henningsen tirelessly worked towards creating direct glare-free light, which shaped a pleasing glow due to the reflections and shades of each design.

The fixture emits comfortable glare-free diffused light. Matt painted undersurfaces and glossy top surfaces result in an attractive reflection of the diffused light, creating uniform light distribution around the fixture. When the light is switched on, the top portion is illuminated while the bottom part remains dark.
