Flos - New Products - Skynest
We were eagerly awaiting the arrival of the New products launched by Flos in Autumn 2022. Our display and stock items have recently arrived and have been installed. We are very excited in particular for the Skynest suspension lamp designed by Marcel Wanders studio. This elegant interwoven pattern of thin fabric covered filaments is very much in a Marcel Wanders style. This unique lamp that on first impressions looks like a typical lampshade has technical innovation woven throughout its design. What makes this piece so different is that its light does not come from a bulb nor an LED board, but from the elements that make up the lamps construction themselves. Delicate strips of LED tubes covered in fabric made from recycled materials create the mesh dome. Skynest is available in four colours Blue Tourmaline, Anthracite, Almond or Brick Red, a colour that we are seeing introduced across many brands and product lines at present. With sustainability in mind no glue is used in the construction of Skynest which can be fully disassembled to replace parts and for future recycling.
Like many brands Flos are looking into the sustainability of their products moving forward. Flos for Planet introduces their latest products with some iconic pieces also that have been revisited and produced as new editions engineered to be not only efficient and long lasting but made from recycled materials which can be easily dismantled and recyclable at the end of their life. One example of this is the Almendra designed by Patricia Urquiola which has recently been awarded the prestigious Interior Design Magazines 2022 Best of Year Award. Almendra’s design was recognised not only for its beauty but for its dedication to sustainability and use of innovative materials. This is the second year in a row that Flos has won this award in the chandelier category.
