Ivor's passion for photography began as a child over 6 decades ago, following in his father's footsteps. Ivor was born in Hessle and was an active sportsman in his younger days. On leaving school, Ivor attended the School of Photography at the Hull College of Art, followed by a years course in Graphic Design & Illustration. His first job was in teaching and in 1962 he was asked to form a Photographic Department in the Plymouth College of Art - now one of the country's leading schools that provides courses at University Level. At 21, Ivor was awarded the Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society and shortly afterward the Associateship of the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP) and Master Photographers Association. He was the youngest person in the UK to be awarded these qualifications at that time. In 1970, following the ill health his father, Ivor decided to join the family business in Hessle as the manager. When his parents died in 1973, Ivor took over the business. During his life, Ivor has kept an interest in Education as a Moderator and Validator for BTEC, a Design Board Council Member, a Council Member of the United Church Schools Trust & Chairman of the BIPP Education Committee.
