Knoll Avio Sofa Intermediate Element
Designer: Piero Lissoni 2016
The collaboration with Piero Lissoni and Knoll has led to a system of upholstered furnishings with an innovative technological concept. With its nonchalant sense of style, the Avio sofa plays with contrasts, from the metal structure to the soft cushions, the essential lines that conceal complex workmanship to aesthetic detailing based on painstaking research, including the use of different materials on different surfaces.
Avio is built as a supporting structure: a steel truss fitted with 'fingers' to support seats, backrests, tables. This framework transforms into a flexible system that can give rise to an almost endless number of benches, two-seaters, three-seaters, chaise longues and tabletops. The padding ensures maximum comfort. It can be dressed up in leather or fabric and can accomodate cushions. It has a pure and precise beauty, and is ideal for any purpose: resting, conversing, reading, listening to music, sleeping, watching a film.
Frame: seats and tables are suspended on a central beam structure made in heavy gauge tubular steel. These beams are interconnected to obtain several configurations and attached to the legs.
Upholstery: each seat is attached to the metal structure through an individual frame. Seat and back cushions with variable density foam covered with polyester fiberfills to enhance comfort. Slip covers are completely removable.
Pillow: down filled pillows are available both in fabric and leather.
