Knoll Newson Aluminium Chair
Designer: Marc Newson 2018
Honoring the cantilevered chairs of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, the Newson Aluminum Chair, 90 years later, is a forward-looking expression that synthesizes simplicity, material and precision, in the Modernist tradition.
A futuristic interpretation of the Tugendhat Chair designed in 1928 by Mies van der Rohe, Aluminum Chair embodies an idea of design that looks towards the future and pushes technology towards the unknown. From the revolutionary construction in tubular steel of the Bauhaus, the Aluminum Chair borrows the bouncing form, inverting it. The result is of visual lightness: a seat that almost fluctuates and joins naturally with the back, thanks to the legs in a single dynamic line.
