Its broad, softly contoured seat appears to float above a crescent-shaped stainless-steel base, creating a precise balance between structural strength and visual lightness.

The design grew from the complementary skills of its creators. Fabricius brought experience in cabinetry, while Kastholm drew on a background in blacksmithing. Their shared interest in architecture and industrial materials led them beyond the conventions of traditional Danish furniture, combining formed veneer, steel and closely tailored upholstery in one assured composition.

Early ideas for the chair were influenced by Kastholm’s time in Lebanon, where he observed a relaxed style of sitting close to the ground. This inspired a generous seat designed to accommodate informal positions, including sitting cross-legged. Named after the curved blade of a scimitar sword, the finished chair has a low, sculptural presence suited to considered living rooms, reception spaces and private studies.

Craftsmanship & Finish

The chair’s apparent simplicity relies on exacting construction. Its seat and back are formed from precisely curved veneer and padded with foam before being tightly upholstered in a choice of leather or textile. The stainless-steel base gives the design its distinctive profile while providing a strong and stable foundation.

Dimensions: W83 × D66 × H66.5cm (seat height 35cm)

Base: stainless steel

Seat and back: moulded veneer with foam padding

Upholstery: available in selected leather and textile options

Part of the Lounge Chairs collection.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0770/2347/8042/files/Carl_Hansen_FK64_Bute_storr_1501_front.jpg?v=1789551552
