Three shades — a mouth-blown four-layered amber upper shade and two mouth-blown three-layered white opal lower shades, glossy outside and sandblasted matte within — work together to direct light with a precision that is immediately apparent when the lamp is switched on. The upward light is warm and ambient; the downward light is soft and shadow-free.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eThe Finish\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe finish is aged brass, lacquered to preserve its patina permanently.
