Iittala's new storage solutions - the Vakka plywood box and the Meno felt bag - offer solutions for everyday storage problems. The design of these sturdy, multipurpose objects reminds us that necessary containers can also be a beautiful part of the interior.

When designing Vakka (bushel in Finnish), Aalto+Aalto was inspired by the plywood suitcases particularly popular in the Baltic countries. "We wanted to create an aesthetically pleasing container that does not look too much like a container and lends itself for a variety of uses, including serving as a stackable piece of furniture."

Compressed plywood is a natural choice for Iittala as it is a genuine and soft material. "Plywood is naturally beautiful - like beach stones. Its shape has not been deformed by force and it gets better with age through dents and other scars".

Available in plywood and white and in two sizes.
