Manufacturer: Carl Hansen
Designer: Borge Mogensen 1961
Shaped from solid, dark-oiled FSC™-certified eucalyptus, the Asserbo Table exudes a simple stringency that alludes to the Shaker style. Designed in 1961 by Børge Mogensen to meet his own furniture needs, its gently rounded shape is punctuated with brushed brass screws. A piece with high utility value, the table is ideal for private and holiday homes, but also for restaurants and public spaces as a gathering point for meetings, meals and conversations.
Mogensen’s Asserbo Series consists of a table and bench made of solid, dark-oiled eucalyptus, and the series exudes a stringent, stylistically consistent design. The rounded shapes and visible screws brushed brass give the series an informal aesthetic, and the visual clarity and strong structure clearly alludes to the Shaker style where Mogensen has let the materials speak for themselves. The bench is available with either a permanently attached or wall-mounted backrest, as well as cushions in textile, making it possible to create a personal expression.
The Asserbo Series was originally made of pine, but to preserve the beautiful expression of the furniture for as long as possible, the series is now made of dark oiled eucalyptus, a much harder wood distinguished by its calm grains of wood, reddish-brown colour and scarcity of knots. Naturally, the wood comes from sustainably forested, fast-growing eucalyptus trees. The loose seat cushion is available in textile. The robust aesthetic and use of materials in the Asserbo Series make the furniture ideal for private and holiday homes, but also for restaurants and public spaces.
Eucalyptus has a naturally expressive grain and stronger tonal contrast, so small marks or light scratches can appear more visible than they would on lighter or more uniform woods. Over time, these subtle variations will settle into the surface and form part of the table’s natural patina.
Please note that the furniture is delivered unassembled.
