The Element Chair

Designed for Poul Kjærholm’s graduation project in 1951, the PK25 explores how much a chair can express with just steel and cord. Its other name, the Element Chair, captures that pared-back approach: a continuous frame traces the legs, seat and back without joints interrupting its outline.

Matt-chromed spring steel gives the structure a restrained sheen, while flag halyard wound around the frame creates the seat and back. The closely spaced cords introduce texture without closing off the form, making the PK25 an open, sculptural presence in a living room or reading corner. Choose Natural for a softer contrast with the steel, or Black to emphasise its graphic lines.
