Sculptural Seating in Welded Steel Wire

Harry Bertoia approached the Diamond armchair as a sculptor first. Shaped in 1952, its diamond-patterned grid of welded steel wire gives the chair its name and an open, airy character, letting light pass through the form rather than closing it off.

The frame is finished in polished chrome, or 18k gold plating on selected variants. A seat pad in fabric or leather attaches to the frame with lock-snaps, adding comfort without concealing the wire structure beneath. Plastic glides on the sled base keep the chair steady and protect the floor.

Compact enough for a reading corner and striking enough to anchor a room on its own, the Diamond works equally well as an accent chair or extra lounge seating. It sits alongside the Side Chair & Seat Pad in the wider Bertoia family.
