    Soft Cushions Within a Flowing Steel Frame

    The Knoll MR Bauhaus 100th Anniversary Edition Lounge Chair pairs a polished chrome tubular steel frame with removable upholstered cushions. Its armless shape leaves the seat open at either side, allowing the curved frame and padded surfaces to define the profile without the enclosing outline of an armchair.

    Leather-covered structural straps support the cushions, bringing a softer material into the steel construction. At 60cm wide, this version offers a relatively narrow footprint for a lounge chair, while its 88cm depth deserves space within a seating arrangement. Place it beside a small table for reading or use a pair where you want comfortable seating without a visually heavy base.

    The MR collection belongs to Mies van der Rohe's early explorations of steel furniture. Its flowing curves recall earlier iron rocking chairs, translated into a pared-back combination of structure and upholstery.
