Manufacturer: Vitra | Designer: Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, 2012

Informal Storage for Everyday Life

Designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Vitra in 2012, Corniches arose from the need for small, impromptu storage in everyday life. As Ronan Bouroullec explains: “The same way that we hang our belongings on a rock jutting from a cliff before diving into the sea, we need small, informal storage in everyday life too.” Neither conventional shelves nor simple horizontal surfaces, Corniches are individual, isolated protrusions, a new way to use the walls of a living space.

They work equally well as a key rack beside the front door, a perch for a soap dispenser in the bathroom, a pedestal for a small collection of objects, or grouped together as a larger wall installation. Moulded from high-quality plastic, they are available in three sizes and six colours.

Specifications

  • Dimensions (Small): W21 × D14.4 × H11.6cm

  • Dimensions (Large): W45.5 × D21.9 × H8.6cm
