Donald Innes was the founder of our company and a gifted photographer. Taken by the late Donald Innes, these timeless images of Hull and the surrounding areas capture everyday life between 1949 and 1970.

The Donald Innes Heritage Collection has been lovingly restored and brought back to life on beautiful archive-quality fine art paper by his son Ivor and the team at Innes.

A huge A0 Framed Portrait Print

This is the A0 version, a genuinely large statement piece designed to command attention. The A0 print measures 841 × 1189mm, approximately 33.1 × 46.8in, giving the portrait an impressive scale and plenty of visual presence on the wall. The frame adds to the overall footprint, creating a substantial finished piece for a hallway, living room, office or public space. It is a photograph of Donald himself, with his signature Harris Tweed coat, trilby and Speed Graphic press camera with heavy duty flash. A camera that he imported from America.

Each framed print is presented in a simple matt black Nielsen Alpha aluminium frame with clear glass and is ready to hang. Other sizes may also be available by request, so please contact us if you are looking for a different format.

Donald Innes opened his photography studio in Hessle in 1947. He began his career as a photojournalist and by the mid-1950s was heading one of the most successful freelance photographic press agencies in the North of England.

His photographs document everyday life in Hull, Hessle and the surrounding East Yorkshire villages, offering a unique insight into people’s lives during the 1950s and 1960s. The collection includes sporting images of Hull City Football Club and Hull Speedway alongside photographs of Hull’s fishing industry and trawlers at the docks.
