The Luce Sferica is Ronan Bouroullec at his most poetic — one of two new creations he has unveiled for Flos, alongside Luce Cilindrica. Together they mark a new chapter in his exploration of material, form and light, channelling the quiet magic of blown glass and a distinctive ability to turn emotion into functional design.

The S1 is a modular suspension lamp that emits diffused light in both directions. At its core is a horizontal body in polished extruded aluminium housing two LED strips — one directed upward, one downward — giving you precise, independent control over the quality and character of light in a room. A discreet touch dimmer at one end of the bar lets you select upward, downward, or both outputs, and adjust each independently.

The aluminium body is encased in a sequence of hand-blown transparent glass spheres, each separated by traditional spacers that accommodate the natural variations inherent to the mouth-blowing process. The result is something that feels closer to a natural phenomenon than a light fitting — weightless, quietly luminous, and deeply considered.

At home in a dining room or living space, and equally suited to hospitality settings, museum spaces, or architectural interiors. Can also be installed in multiple parallel rows to create luminous landscapes of light — wherever light is asked to do more than simply illuminate.
