Manufacturer: Fritz Hansen
Designer: Arne Jacobsen 1958
This piece is an original licensed Fritz Hansen piece.
The Egg™ chair by Arne Jacobsen is an everlasting Danish design masterpiece. Like a sculptor, Jacobsen strived to shape the shell’s perfect form by experimenting with wire and plaster in his garage. Today, it is recognised worldwide as one of the triumphs of Jacobsen’s legendary career and a monumental achievement in Scandinavian craftsmanship.
Materials: Shell: The shell is molded CombiPUR (RigiPur/hard PUR and FlexiPUR soft PUR), and back is covered with tricot wadding 100g, before the chair is upholstered with fabric or leather. The shell of the lounge chair has an adjustable tilt fitting which can be adjusted to the weight of the individual user.
Base: The four-star base consists either of a satin chromed steel column connected to a base in satin brushed aluminium or a powder coated steel column connected to a base in powder coated aluminium.
A matching Egg™ footstool is available in the same base and upholstery options as the Egg™ lounge chair.
The leg ferrules are made in black polyamide.
Dimensions: Width: 86cm x Depth: 79cm x Height: 107cm (Seat Height: 37cm)

Arne Jacobsen
Design visionary and creator of the Egg™, Swan™, Series 7™ and Drop™ chairs, among other iconic furniture pieces.
It is said that as a child growing up in Copenhagen, Arne Jacobsen painted over the Victorian wallpaper in his bedroom. But young Arne did not cover his walls with typical childish drawings or paint the ornate wallpaper boyish blue. Instead, he decided to paint his room entirely white. His decision may seem commonplace today, but in the early twentieth century white walls were not yet in fashion. From the very beginning, Arne Jacobsen was ahead of his time.
