One of 365. A Century in the Making.
To mark the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus — the school that changed the course of modern design — Knollstudio produced just 365 of these Bauhaus 100th Anniversary Limited Edition chairs: one for every day of the year. No more, no fewer. Each is certified, numbered, and stamped on the structure. With Knollstudio holding the exclusive sales rights accorded by Mies van der Rohe himself in 1953, these are the only authorised originals in existence.
The Craft Behind the Chair
The structure is formed from black chrome flat spring steel, hand-ground and polished to a mirror finish, with cushion support straps in thick cowhide fixed with aluminium rivets. The upholstery is 40 individual panels per chair — each hand-cut, stitched, and tufted with buttons, produced from a single cowhide. The cushions are upholstered exclusively in premium Bauhaus leather, with straps dyed to match on all sides and edges. It is a level of craft that has not changed since 1929, and shows no sign of doing so.

This is No. 154 of just 365 produced — ever. A display piece in excellent condition, it comes with a certificate of authenticity and a spare set of Bauhaus leather cushions, replaced when the original set developed a slight imperfection.
