EA105 Non-swivel chair with armrests
The Aluminium Chair is one of the greatest furniture designs of the 20th century. Its characteristic feature is the intelligent combination of materials that ensure a high level of comfort: the cover is attached inside the aluminium profile sections and simply stretched over the frame, transforming it from being a mere cover to a load-bearing part of the structure.
Vitra grants a 30-year guarantee on all chairs of the Aluminium Chair Group and the Soft Pad Group (see certificate of guarantee).

Charles & Ray Eames
Explore the history of designers Charles and Ray Eames. Often referred to as a twentieth-century interpretation of the nineteenth-century English club chair, this seating instantly became a symbol of comfort. Eames Aluminium Chairs are not just a classic design, but as an entire design concept for industrial manufacturing with elements of hand craftsmanship
The Story
The point of departure to find a suitable solution for outdoor chairs in the development of the Eames Aluminium Group is an essential aspect of its design: since the chairs were intended for both indoor and outdoor use, the Eames searched for suitable materials. This led them to aluminium, which is not only water-resistant but also lightweight and capable of being cast into free-form sculptural shapes. Exploiting these advantages, they came up with an ingenious structural idea: a textile membrane stretched tautly between two elegantly curved aluminium side members to form a sling-style seat.
Aluminium is an extremely durable material that can be completely recycled at the end of its useful life. Recycled aluminium requires 94% less energy to produce than primary aluminium, which is why Vitra relies almost exclusively on recycled aluminium.
