DAL — Dining Height Armchair, La Fonda Base
The Eames Plastic Armchair RE DAL is the dining-height armchair version of Charles and Ray Eames' iconic 1950 shell chair — now produced in recycled post-consumer polypropylene. The DAL (Dining Height Armchair La Fonda Base) pairs the organically shaped armchair shell with the La Fonda base: a four-legged die-cast aluminium frame available in polished or powder-coated finish, positioning the chair comfortably at table height. The La Fonda base suits dining rooms, restaurants, offices and contract environments equally well.
The shell is dyed through — no surface coating — and carries the characteristic fine pigment specks inherent to the recycled material. The recyclate is sourced from household packaging waste collected through Germany's Yellow Bag (Gelber Sack) scheme. At end of life, the shell is 100% recyclable. The powder-coated base versions are suitable for outdoor use on a temporary or seasonal basis; after prolonged exposure to the elements, clean and store in a dry, sheltered place to ensure lasting use and avoid any deterioration in appearance.
