Counter Height Seating with Footrest
The Eames Plastic Stool RE Medium brings the iconic Eames shell to kitchen counter height — the same organically shaped recycled polypropylene shell used across the Eames Plastic Chair RE family, mounted on a modified tubular steel base with a footrest for comfort and safety at height. The base geometry is adapted from the four-legged DSX base, engineered to handle the altered distribution of forces in higher seating positions.
The shell is produced from recycled post-consumer polypropylene sourced through Germany's Yellow Bag (Gelber Sack) scheme, significantly reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions versus virgin plastic. At end of life, the shells are 100% recyclable. Due to the nature of the recycled material, shell colours carry very subtle specks of pigment.
The unupholstered version with powder-coated base is suitable for outdoor use on a temporary or seasonal basis — after prolonged exposure to the elements, clean and store in a dry, sheltered place to ensure lasting use and avoid any deterioration in appearance. Note: the powder-coated footrest may show signs of abrasion due to its anti-slip coating.
