Knoll Bauhaus Colours
Knoll uses modern design to create places people love to be. Over the last 85 years, Knoll commitment to modern design has yielded a timeless collection of pioneering products for luxury residential interiors. Today that change requires fast adaptation, Knoll have updated their MR (Mies van der Rohe) and Breuer Collections in three ultra-matte colours: black, white and dark red.
As a leader of the Bauhaus, Marcel Breuer used the technological advances of his day in the service of a better way of living. His 1928 Cesca chair marries traditional craftsmanship to industrial materials.
The quintessential office and dining chair, Cesca is offered in arm and armless versions with a fully upholstered seat and back, or inset on a wood frame with woven cane. Its frame is now offered in an ultra-matte finish in three different colours: black, white and dark red.
The MR Collection represents some of the earliest steel furniture designs by Mies van der Rohe. The material choice was inspired by fellow Bauhaus master Marcel Breuer, while the forms are undeniably modern. The new dark red ultra-matte finish was inspired by a Bauhaus colour originally offered on the MR Chair, while the new white and black were also valued by Bauhaus designers for how they reflected or absorbed light, enhanced geometric forms and defined edges.
