Modernist Lines, Relaxed Comfort

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe drew up the Barcelona day bed in 1930, extending the language of his celebrated Barcelona chair into a piece made for rest. The Relax version keeps those modernist lines but pairs them with a softer, more supple cushion for everyday lounging.

The platform is an ash hardwood frame painted in walnut, carried on tubular steel legs in a polished chrome or ultra-matte onyx finish, with thick cowhide straps stretched over rubber webbing to support the cushion. Its 72 individual leather panels are cut from a single hide, hand-welted and hand-tufted with buttons, and the matching bolster can sit loose or be strapped to the platform.

At 196cm long, the day bed makes a striking centrepiece in a living room, bedroom or office, offering a place to read, rest or simply admire the view.
