The Colours That Started It All
When Verner Panton introduced the Panthella in 1971, he did so in five colours that made an immediate statement - Blue Grey, Brown, Green, Orange, and Opal Red, each on a chrome base. Bold, playful, and unlike anything that had come before, the original Panthella was as much a sculptural object as it was a lamp. Both the trumpet-shaped stem and the hemispherical shade were designed to act as reflectors, bouncing soft, glare-free light through the opal glass in a way that felt entirely new.
The Originals Edition
To mark what would have been Verner Panton's 100th birthday, Louis Poulsen reintroduced those five original colourways in the Panthella 160 Portable - a cordless, rechargeable format that brings the same iconic form to wherever you need it. Windowsills, shelves, bedside tables, or outdoors - the IP44 rating means it moves freely between settings.
The opal glass shade diffuses light evenly, producing a warm, comfortable glow. A touch switch on the top nut steps through 10%, 33%, and 100% brightness. When fully charged, it runs for up to 8.5 hours at full power and up to 79 hours at its lowest setting.
