The Colours That Started It All
When Verner Panton introduced the Panthella in 1971, he did so in five colours that made an immediate statement - Blue Grey, Brown, Green, Orange, and Opal Red, each with a chrome base. Bold and playful, the original Panthella was as much a sculptural object as it was a lamp. Its curved shade and trumpet-shaped base work together to soften and reflect the light, giving the design its distinctive glow.
The Originals Edition
To mark what would have been Verner Panton's 100th birthday, Louis Poulsen reintroduced those five original colourways in the Panthella 250 Portable - a larger, cordless format for bedside tables, shelves and relaxed living spaces. The coloured opal acrylic shade diffuses the light, while the high-lustre chrome base adds a polished contrast. The IP44-rated lamp can also be used outdoors temporarily; bring it indoors after use rather than leaving it outside permanently.
A touch switch on the top nut steps through 10%, 33% and 100% brightness. A medium press turns the light off, and a long press locks or unlocks the controls. When fully charged, it runs for up to 5.5 hours at full power and up to 79 hours at its lowest setting.
